Forty years ago this week, Everyday by Slade reached its highest position of number 3 in the UK singles chart, having entered the top 40 two weeks previously at number 6. After one week at its peak position, the song fell to number 7 for a final week in the top 10 and then spent the last two weeks of its chart life in the lower top 40.
Everyday was released on the Polydor record label and was the tenth of sixteen UK top 10 hits for Slade. It was taken from the gold-selling album Old new borrowed and blue, which spent one week at the top of the UK album chart. The single was certified silver.
