This week in 1994, Rock and roll dreams come through by Meat Loaf reached its highest position of number 11 in the UK singles chart, having entered the top 40 the previous week at number 16. After one week at its peak position, the song started to slide down the chart but remained in the top 40 for another two weeks.
Rock and roll dreams come through was released on the Virgin record label and was the tenth of eighteen top 40 hits for Meat Loaf in the UK. It was taken from the sextuple-platinum-selling album Bat out of hell II – back into hell, which spent eleven weeks at the top of the UK album chart and was also a US number 1.
The original version of the song was written and recorded by Jim Steinman in 1981 for his silver-selling album Bad for good. The single only reached number 52 in the UK chart but the album peaked at number 7.
