Forty years ago this week, Rockin’ roll baby by the Stylistics entered the UK top 10 at its highest position of number 6, having entered the top 40 three weeks previously at number 29. After one week at its peak position, the song fell to number 8 for a final week in the top 10 and then dropped into the lower top 40 for the final three weeks of its chart life.
Rockin’ roll baby was released on the Avco record label and was the second of ten UK top 10 hits for the Stylistics. It was included on a silver-selling album of the same name that failed to enter the UK album top 40 later in 1974, peaking at number 42.
