Forty years ago this week, Love on a mountain top by Robert Knight was at its highest position of number 10 in the UK singles chart for the second of two weeks. It had entered the top 40 nine weeks previously at number 28. After two weeks in the top 10, the song dropped into the lower top 40 for the final three weeks of its chart life.
Love on a mountain top was released on the Monument record label and was the only top 10 hit for Robert Knight in the UK. It was included on an album of the same name that failed to enter the UK album chart.
The song returned to the top 40 in 1989 when Sinitta recorded a cover version. The single reached number 20 in the UK chart.
