Forty years ago this week, Let me in by the Osmonds was at its highest position of number 2 in the UK singles chart for the last of three weeks. It had entered the top 40 four weeks previously at number 32 and broke into the top 10 a week later. After falling from its peak position, the song stayed in the top 10 for another two weeks and then spent the final six weeks of its chart life in the lower top 40.
Let me in was released on the MGM record label and was the third of five top 10 hits for the Osmonds in the UK. It was taken from the gold-selling album The plan, which peaked at number 6 in the UK album chart. The single was certified silver.
The song returned to the top 40 in 1997 when OTT recorded a cover version. The cover peaked at number 12.
