This week in 1973, Dyna-mite by Mud reached its highest position of number 4 in the UK singles chart for the second time. It had entered the top 40 four weeks previously at number 34 and broke into the top 10 two weeks later at its peak position. After its second week at number 4, the song started to slide down the chart but remained in the top 10 for another two weeks. A further five weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.
Dyna-mite was released on the RAK record label and was the first of eleven UK top 10 hits for Mud. It was included on the gold-selling album Mud rock as a medley with Tiger feet and The cat crept in. The single was certified silver and the album peaked at number 8 in 1974.
