This week in 1983, Please don’t make me cry by UB40 entered the UK top 10 at number 10, having entered the top 40 three weeks previously at number 38. This was the highest position the song achieved as it left the top 10 a week later and spent the final three weeks of its chart life in the lower top 40.
Please don’t make me cry was released on the DEP International record label and was the sixth of seventeen UK top 10 hits for UB40. It was taken from the double-platinum-selling album Labour of love, which spent one week at the top of the UK album chart.
