Call on me by Eric Prydz replaced Real to me by Brian McFadden at the top of the UK singles chart ten years ago this week in its first week of release. It stayed at number 1 for three weeks and then made way for Radio by Robbie Williams. After one week at number 2, the song returned to the top spot for another two weeks and was then succeeded by Wonderful by Ja Rule featuring R Kelly & Ashanti.
The single stayed in the top 10 for another three weeks after falling from the top of the chart for the second time. A further ten weeks in the lower top 40 followed before the record left the chart.
Call on me was released on the Data record label and was the only UK number 1 hit for Eric Prydz. The song featured a sample from Valerie by Steve Winwood, which failed to enter the UK top 40 when it was first released in 1982 but reached number 19 when it was remixed in 1987.
